Philosophy and the Science of Human Nature (Yale PHIL 181)

عن هذه الدورة

Prof. Tamar Gendler pairs central texts of Western philosophy — Plato, Aristotle, Epictetus, Hobbes, Kant, Mill, Rawls, Nozick — with what psychology and cognitive science have since discovered about how people actually think and behave. Three movements: happiness and flourishing, morality and justice, then political legitimacy and the structures of a society. The recurring question is what happens to an old argument when the empirical claim buried inside it turns out to be testable.
